CryoSperm™ is a ready-to-use, HSA-free sperm freezing medium using a blend of glycerol and raffinose as cryoprotectants. The medium is free of any proteins and components of animal origin. This  removes the concern for transmission of animal or human derived diseases.

Raffinose is a trisaccharide, which functions as an extracellular (non-permeating) cryoprotectant, while glycerol permeates the cell membrane and functions intracellularly. The combination of raffinose and glycerol has previously been shown to significantly improve the fertilizing ability of frozen-thawed spermatozoa (Tada et al 1990).

Clinical documentation
CryoSperm™ has been compared to Sperm Freezing Medium (product no. 1067) in three independent studies at Clermont-Ferrand (F), Rennes (F), and Nordic Cryobank (DK).

All parameters examined in all three studies showed equal or better results in CryoSperm™
