ICSI Cumulase®
ICSI Cumulase® is used for the removal (denudation) of the cell complex (cumulus and corona radiata) surrounding the oocyte in preparation for ICSI.
Background
Prior to the ICSI procedure, the cells of the cumulus and corona radiata must be removed in order to facilitate access to the oocyte and minimise contamination of the injection needle.
ICSI Cumulase® is the only ready-to-use recombinant human hyaluronidase (rHuPH20) on the market. In contrast to the conventional animal hyaluronidase extracts, ICSI Cumulase® carries a number of advantages:
| Features |
Benefits |
Less toxic than best available hyaluronidases
Higher pregnancy rates due to less physical stress, as less mechanical stripping is necessary
Exposure time is not critical
Human origin of enzyme
Human enzyme for human oocytes
No risk of any viral transmissions and other contaminant problems related to crude animal extracts
Free of any serum components or animal derivatives
Unparalleled in purity and safety
Ready-to-use single-cycle vials
Convenient packaging preventing dilution and pipetting
Risk of contamination is eliminated
8 weeks of shelf life
Minimises media wastage
Clinical data
Dr. Peter Nagy, USA presented clinical data at ESHRE 2005, where a bovine-derived hyaluronidase extract was compared to Cumulase®. Data showed higher embryo score on day 3 and higher fertilisation rates by using Cumulase®.
